“The last bastion of humanity lies in ruins amidst the shattered remnants of civilization and ominous whispers of almost certain extinction…..”
No peeps, not a description of post Celtic-Tiger Ireland (seriously!) but the blurb from the awesome Gears of War 3 that the Reaper team have finally got their mitts on!
A rainy Monday night in Dublin was the setting for the eagerly awaited launch of Epics ‘Gears of War 3′ for Xbox 360 but the weather certainly didn’t dampen the mood for what was a thoroughly exciting and enjoyable event. Fans, Journalists, Sports stars and even reality TV poppets descended on The Workmans Club to get a little taste of this years highest-rated Xbox release which was about to go on midnight sale all around the country.
Surrounded by a plethora of giant HDTV’s 98FM’s Steven Cooper provided the soundtrack to an evening where teams battled it out for top prizes and fans scrambled around to get a peek at Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad giving it to the Horde.
In the interests of free beer…. sorry… trusted gaming journalism, The Reaper Team soaked it all up and came away impressed at what this third installment in the series has to offer. So much so we hung around to each get a midnight copy which will be reviewed very shortly!
In the meantime be sure to check out Reaper TV’s coverage of the event!
Notable attendees on the night were Leinster Rugby lads Shane Horgan, Kevin McLaughlan and Dave Kearney, Tipperary Hurler Padraic Maher and Fade Streets CiCi Kavanagh. The big winners were ‘Team Radio Nova’ who defeated ‘Team Anonymous’ in a GoW3 tournament to walk away with two shiny new Xbox 360 Consoles.
Fan prizes were also awarded to Darren Maher, Paul Tobin Cuffe, Sean Burke McKenna and Lorcan Boyle who each received a copy of the game.
Big Reaper thanks to Emma, Edelman, Microsoft and Jamie! Review to follow…
